No Plans to Block Workers from Bulgaria and Romania

A press secretary for Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt says the ultimate decision will be taken by parliament, but the new Swedish government is unlikely to place restrictions on Bulgarian or Romanian workers. Sweden, Britain, and Ireland were the only countries to welcome workers from the 10 countries that joined the EU in 2004.

Reinfeldt has pointed out that concerns then that migrant workers would flock to Sweden to take advantage of the country’s generous welfare system turned out to be exaggerated.
