The "Alcatraz List" Success Or failure?

Has a large government campaign to fight organised crime been a failure? In 2006 the government decided to spend over 1 1/2 million dollars on what has been called "The Alcatraz List", which would contain the names of Sweden's most dangerous criminals.

The goal of the list was to enable the authorities and the police to cooperate and make sure the criminals faced justice. But 3 years on, only half of the 250 names on the list have received prison sentences, and most of those sentences have been short.

So was it worth all the money? Radio Sweden's Kris Boswell spoke to freelance journalist and expert on organised crime in Sweden, Lasse Wierup.
