Inauguration of the Baltic Sea Festival 2009!
“When words fail… then you turn to music.” Esa-Pekka Salonen on the powerfulness of music. Concerts, seminars and exhibitions held in this year’s Baltic Sea Festival ring of peace and reconciliation and the environment, both in and around the Baltic Sea.
Baltic Sea Festival 2009 – Peace and Reconciliation
This year's Baltic Sea Festival is on the theme of peace and reconciliation. The World Orchestra for Peace will be playing for the first time in Sweden under the baton of Valery Gergiev. The ensemble comprises the foremost musicians from orchestras in 40 countries. On the same day, a seminar is being held on culture as a unifying force in society. The discussion will be led by Camilla Kvartoft from Swedish Radio's programme P1 Morgon.
